1. MaKamaraka Great Again (4-1) +1
192.5-120.5 Win over Ruggs Munchers (2-3)
Who’s in 1st place?
The bish commish moved to 4-1 this week with a sound win over Steve. Tom Brady (50) had his best game of the year while stack partner Mike Evans (31) did the same. Justin Jefferson (20.5) was no slouch either and Alvin Kamara (27.5) finally broke 20 points. I knew you had it in you sweetie. Marquise Brown (36.5) wasn’t happy with just a regular victory and insisted on a stomping, and went off on Monday night to lead me to top scorer of the week.
The continued downturn of TJ Hockenson (3) is a bit concerning though, and a lack of a true RB2 with Samaje Perine (16) on the COVID list and Ronald Jones (3.5) absolutely terrible, this team could be in some hot water now that the Bye weeks are starting. I’ll get a shot at the other Ollquist brother in Week 6.
2. Getting Higgy With It (4-1) -1
66-177.5 Loss to The DK Crew (2-3)
I guess Rob had to be due for a stanker at some point. With only 3 of his starters breaking double digits, it was an absolute nightmare Week 5 for Bogle whose low low final score caused him to relinquish sole possession of 1st place. To be fair, his RB1 and RB2 were both out, but 66 is still a tough pill to swallow. I guess on the bright side this would be the ideal time for the rest of your team to crap themselves.
With CMC allegedly back for Week 6 and Chris Carson on the right track, Rob could be back at full strength (minus Deebo) for his matchup against Steve.
3. 12 Years A Colluder (3-2) +5
179-142 Win over Ha Gayyyyyyyyy (2-3)
Dan continued his trend of trading off victories and defeats every week with a Monday Night Football win over Christian. The very thing that prevented him from winning in Week 4 came through for him this time as Mike Williams (43) had a monster game and Najee Harris (28) continued to quietly be one of the most effective backs in the league. DeAndre Hopkins (17) also did well, finding the end zone for the 4th time this year. Much like your league leader, Dan truly lacks an RB2 since Dobbins went down. The cavalcade of mediocrity that is Alex Collins, AJ Dillon, and Nyheim Hines probably won’t win you any weeks, and they are looking and getting some actual playing time in the next few weeks. Perhaps if Kadarius Toney (28) can stop assaulting inanimate objects and other people, he can be useful for Dan’s flex plays. We’ll see if he can buck his trend and collect a 2nd straight win in Week 6 against Andy.
4. Mickey Mouse Club (2-3) -1
94-151 Loss to Superfluous Simps SS (3-2)
May I present to all of you our DrewperBowl loser. Andy went back to the well of scoring under 100 points, and he chose a bad time to do it with his name’s pride on the line.
Aaron Rodgers (26) appears to be stabilizing and Cordarrelle Patterson (15.5) continues to baffle the NFL. A quieter week from Tyreek Hill (10.5) was the final nail in the coffin, as Hill’s incredibly high ceiling in any given week allows Andy to never count himself out of matchups. With the fall to 2-3, Andy is now tied for 3rd in the division and the points scored tie-breaker puts him at 4th in the NBPL. He gets a chance to stop the skid against Dan this week.
5. Drake’s New Favorite Team (3-2) +2
101.5-99.5 Win over Calico Cut Lance (1-4)
After narrowly escaping with a W in Week 4 by a .5 margin, LiMonta made miracles again this week, beating out Frank by 2 points on the back of a monster Sunday Night for Josh Allen (45). Leonard Fournette (19) also pitched in and Cooper Kupp (12.5) was fine despite ceding his usual high point total to Robert Woods. The rest of the squad was pretty unremarkable as the combo of CEH, Robby Anderson, Evan Engram, and Cole Beasley all combined for just 14 points. And of course, LiMonta wasn’t all smiles Sunday night as his RB1 Sleepy Clyde (2.5) left the game after suffering an MCL injury. This team is one Joe Mixon setback away from starting Marlon Mack, which is not a very fun sentence for anybody. Except maybe whoever gets to play LiMonta this week. He squares off with Mike who is coming off 2 straight losses.
6. Dirty D (2-3) -2
88.5-167.5 Loss to Dying On This Tannehill (2-3)
It was a tough week for Mike, as he ran into a buzzsaw with John dropping a hefty 167.5 on him. Jalen Hurts (24) led the charge for this squad while Darrell Henderson (16.5) and Aaron Jones (18) performed admirably. Robert Tonyan (0.5) was basically invisible as Mike scrambled to replace the IR occupying George Kittle, who had already been a disappointment so far this year. Adam Thielen (5) and Brandin Cooks (3.5) were also very quiet in Week 5, and ultimately Mike was handed his 3rd loss of the year. He has a date with LiMonta in Week 6 who is looking to continue his streak of close calls.
7. Superfluous Simps SS (3-2) +2
151-94 Win over Mickey Mouse Club (2-3)
Make that 3 straight for Drew and a DrewperBowl win to cap it off. The Fightin’ Simps rode some strong performances from Mark Andrews (40.5) Zeke Elliott (31), Kareem Hunt (23.5), Matthew Stafford (23) and D’Andre Swift (20) in Week 5 and was able to play enough fantasy defense to avoid a Tyreek Hill monster game on Sunday night.
While this team’s running back stable may be the best in the league, it’s receivers are a sore spot. Odell (3) has no chemistry with Baker Mayfield while Kenny Golladay (0) will miss a few weeks after sustaining an injury. Going forward, this team will have to lean heavily on its RB play or hope to gain some traction on the receiving end if they want to remain competitive.
8. Ha Gayyyyyyyyy (2-3) -3
142-179 Loss to 12 Years a Colluder (3-2)
Despite a strong showing in Week 5, Christian lost another heartbreaker in Week 5 as Dan’s “curse” of MNF was lifted. This squad had the duo of Dak (30) and Nick Chubb (32.5) go off while Antonio Gibson (22) and Ceedee Lamb (19) were good as well. A surprisingly down week from DJ Moore (6.5) and the continued irrelevance of Allen Robinson (5) were major detriments though, and ultimately it was the difference as Dan saw Lamar deliver him to the promised land. Christian will do battle with the red-hot Drew next week.
9. Ruggs Munchers (2-3) -3
120.5-192.5 Loss to MaKamaraka Great Again (4-1)
A lead with Mahomes left to play is rarely a safe one, but it sure was on Sunday night for ya boi. Steve put up a valiant effort but a rainy Sunday night game cost the trio of Mahomes (20), Diggs (7) and Mecole Hardman (11.5) a lot of their upward potential. Derrick Henry (38) is still forcing his will upon the rest of the NFL, so that’s at least one thing you’ve got on your side.
Steve will take on Rob in Week 6 who will be without the services of Deebo Samuel. If there’s a time to strike while the iron is hot - it’s right now.
10. Dying On This Tannehill (2-3) +1
167.5-88.5 Win over Dirty D (2-3)
In a week where a measly 90 points would have won him the day, John decided to go all out and put himself amongst our top scorers for the week. Ja’Marr Chase (32), Davante Adams (36.5) and Austin Ekeler (30.5) all balled out, Damien Williams (16) proved to be a great use of waiver priority and Travis Kelce (14) had a solid bounce back.
With Joe Burrow possibly sidelined, Chase’s upside may be capped a bit, and the continued less than stellar play of Ryan Tannehill (14) will definitely be areas of concern to address. Lucky for John, he gets to take on last place Frank this week who will be without both Trey Lance and Kyle Pitts.
11. The DK Crew (2-3) -1
177.5-66 Win Over Getting Higgy With It (4-1)
I really wanted to rank you higher, I really did. You beat Rob which helped me gain 1st place but losing one of your best players in Russell Wilson (10) for 4-6 weeks is less than ideal. Not only that, but the Wilson/Metcalf (23.5) stack will definitely take a dive with the Seahawks giving Geno Smith the reins.
Otherwise though this team did a great job in Week 5. Alexander Hamilton (29.5) proves to be one of the best handcuffs to own and Dawson Knox (26.5) is an early candidate for waiver wire scoop of the year. Not to mention James Robisnon (26.5) reminded Urban Meyer just how good he can be when he’s actually, well, used. If this squad can find a short term answer at QB, they have plenty of upward mobility.
12. Calico Cut Lance (1-4) +0
99.5-101.5 Loss to Drake’s New Favorite Team (3-2)
In a week where Frank looked poised to get back into the win column, he was rudely handed his 4th straight loss at the hands of Josh Allen. While living it up in Aruba, Frank finally got his breakout from Kyle Pitts (26.5) who manhandled the Jets, with Amaeri Cooper (13.5), Zack Moss (10.5) and DeVonta Smith (10.5) all pitching in. Trey Lance (15) didn’t do a whole lot with his start and AJ Brown (4.5) just cant seem to match his magic from last season.
To make matters worse, Frank also lost 1st round pick Saquon Barkley (0) to an ankle injury that will likely see him sidelined for several weeks. Not exactly what you want to see when youre trying to claw your way out of dress-wearing territory. If Frank can’t make up some ground when he faces John this week, it may be curtains for this team’s playoff hopes.
